Frog

Innocently playing with her ball until Daddy brings over a frog!

Making a face at the FROG

Lydia said Frog today while she signed it thanks to the tiny frog her daddy 'caught' and showed her while he was mowing the lawn. Let's just call this frog "HOPPER." Hopper was a persistent frog. When placed in a bucket and on display for a toddler, Hopper didn't enjoy his spotlight and quickly learned that importance of "getting the heck out of here!" Lydia was amused by his antics, albeit only from a comfortable range of 4-5 feet. Now Hopper made a death-defying leap from Brett's hands to the ground and survived, leaping off into the garage. Later, Hopper found himself in the precarious position of being in my path as I carried Lydia to the car to put her in her seat and may have lost a toe or other appendage that warranted him unfit to hop. I thought this was the end of Hopper and carefully placed a piece of cardboard around him until he could be properly disposed of by Brett upon his return home. I was pleasantly surprised to learn that Hopper had survived his ordeal when Brett lifted the cardboard and found him still living! Lydia was pleased to view Hopper from a distance, even politely waving "HI" to him from her safe harbor. Hopper was released to his element in our backyard with hopes of reuniting with his froggy friends. Whereas Lydia now can speak the word frog, I don't think she has intentions of making any close encounters with one soon.
