Fairy Tea

Mt. Hawley Country Club was the perfect setting for Junior League of Peoria's 2nd Annual Frolic with the Fairies Mother and Daughter Fairy Tea. The scene was set with a babbling brook, exquisite centerpieces, and magical backdrops. The food was a fairy feast fit for a princess. Lydia dined on a magical wand constructed with a star-shaped peanut butter and jelly sandwich and a fruit skewer. She enjoyed blue macaroni and cheese with fish to simulate a babbling brook. She even got a cupcake as a treat! My food was delicious!

As a fairy princess, Lydia listened to grown-up fairies play music, danced with other fairies, listened to fairy stories, and watched a fairy style-show. I was nearly brought to tears as I watched Lydia experience the whole event. She was so happy and spinning in circles as she danced to the fairy music. She laughed and clapped with the other fairies.

Stay tuned for professional photographs of Lydia from the event. Nellie Photography was gracious to donate her services to the Junior League to raise additional funds for the event. We paid for a package and are excited to see the results. Nellie does fabulous work. It was the first time we had her photograph Lydia, but we plan on having her photograph her in the future. Nellie has a daughter that is Lydia's age and it is always fun to get them together to play!

Lydia's fairy outfit was created by Jill Gambill of J.Doodle Designs (they are on facebook!) I used to teach with Jill in East Peoria and have ordered several outfits from her recently. She does quality work and we have been so pleased with her artistic interpretation of my orders. She always takes my ideas and turns them into something wonderful!

The overall verdict of the event is that we will be planning on attending again next March when the theme of the tea is "Winter Wonderland." I am so proud of the Junior League special events committee for making this event a reality! It was beautiful and so much fun!
