Although parenthood is something we were blessed with almost 5 years ago, adding a new child to the family is an adjustment. Early on in my pregnancy, a friend shared that having a second child doesn't require you to divide your love, but rather, your love just grows and multiples with the addition of the new child. Nodding my head in agreement, I wasn't sure I could fathom how much you could love a second child as much as the first. Now that we are a week into being a family of four, it is apparent that she was spot on. My love for Lydia has not diminished and my love for Lauren is just as great as her big sister. It is amazing that no matter how full your life or heart may seem, that a new blessing has a space that was designed by God just for her.
Lauren has already made our lives brighter and happier. Despite late nights, dirty diapers, and running late to various scheduled activities, she is fitting into our rhythm of life and we are making adjustments along the way. Lydia is smitten with her little sister and enjoys giving lots of hugs and kisses. She helps grab diapers, keep her sister covered up, and grab blankets or changes of clothes as needed. I look at Lydia interacting with her little sister and melt. I hope the future holds for them lots of memories of each other playing, talking, and forming that deep friendship that comes with a strong sisterhood. Not only has our love multiplied, but the girls now also have each other.
