The Illinois Valley Strider's Kids' Running Series kicked off tonight. After a dreary day filled with rain and gloom, the clouds moved away for the sun to shine on the season opening night of running club. Lydia was able to run a quarter mile on her own accord in 4 minutes and 29 seconds! She came out of the gate running and ran entirely around the course with minimal prompting. After eating her victory cookie and drinking apple juice, Lydia received a green ribbon to commemorate her first race of the season. After seeing the 2nd heat of runners begin, Lydia insisted on running again. She took off and completed an additional quarter mile. Needless to say, she was hungry and tired. We ate at the 50s Diner to celebrate. What a fun evening for Lydia!
