Preschool Orientation

Miss Lydia starts Preschool soon and the beginning of this new parenting adventure began tonight at the Parent Orientation. Lydia is enrolled in the "Curiosity Corner" program that is taught by a veteran teacher with a Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction. Our visit to the learning center tonight brought an overview of the curriculum, vision and philosophy of the programs as well as classroom presentations. We were thrilled with the teacher, the activities they have planned, and the overall 'feel' of the classroom.
One of the most intriguing parts of the learning center is the incredible outdoor learning classroom and nature trail that Lydia will be able to access on a daily basis. In addition to "Godly Play," Literacy time, science, and art time, Lydia will have daily outdoor time in the nature classroom. We were impressed with their social constructivist theory that focuses on learning through play and collaborative play. We are excited at their philosophy of assessment and documentation of progress and are eager to see what Lydia learns through the year.

We are aware that we are Lydia's first teachers and will continue to introduce her to experiences and opportunities that are engaging and educational, but we are thrilled that her preschool teachers appear to be enthusiastic, passionate, and caring. We can't wait to volunteer in her classroom and for the various festivals and fundraisers that will be held throughout the year. We were able to volunteer for several activities through the year.
