Trip to Woodstock

We were gone yet another weekend (I think that makes 5 in a row!) this past weekend. This time, to Woodstock to celebrate my 10-year high school reunion! Despite the fact that I can't believe how vastly different my life is from 10 years ago, it was a good chance to catch up with some classmates and enjoy some time with my parents. Lydia stayed with my mom on Saturday night (my dad went with a friend to a concert at the Opera House). Brett and I were able to meet up with Erin and head to the reunion. It was a great time, but I was ready to head home by 10pm! So much for a crazy night out! Getting up at 7 am and traveling three hours can take it out of you.
Sunday morning, we went to the Harvest Fest in Woodstock. The Harvest Fest was a combination of a Farmer's Market, Craft Fair, and re-enactment of life in the 1800s with displays of iron making, rope making, and wax candle making. Despite my efforts to dress Lydia appropriately for the chilly weather, I was left rather cold in a sundress. I can't believe the changes in weather lately!

While we were in Woodstock, Lydia's eye developed some redness and we grew a little concerned that she was getting an infection. Luckily for us, a good friend of ours is an eye doctor as was able to come over Sunday evening and look at Lydia's eye. To our relief, it is a Chalazia. That is a fancy word to mean non-infectious spherical bumps that occur as a result of a blocked duct on the outer surface of the eyelid. The treatment for such a condition is simply warm compresses on the eye several times a day. We were best able to accomplish this task today during swim lessons and at bath time. Dr. Tim told us it should go away in a few days with the warm compress treatment. If not, a simple ointment would help clear it up. Lydia doesn't seem to notice that her eye is a little red and puffy, thank goodness!I had forgotten to blog about the homecoming parade two weekends ago. The district I work for had a homecoming parade that the town has a big turnout for. It was our first time and we had a great time. Lydia loved it except for two things, the bands and the panther mascot for the middle school. She clung to me and turned her head away when both passed us by. She loved the kids, cheerleaders, trucks, and floats as they passed by. We took her coupe car and used her 'trunk' as a candy collector. As the kids floated by, they aimed for her trunk and filled it up with candy and treats! Because there wasn't much chocolate (for me) and Lydia can't have candy, most of the candy was taken to school and left in the teacher's lounge where it disappeared quickly!
