A Walk in the Park
One of the best features of our subdivision is Northtrail Park and all the walking paths and sidewalks. We haven't been able to really enjoy these features as parents, except for the past two days. Brett and I took walks on a regular basis before Lydia was born. Once she was born, we continued to take walks, but were more sensitive to wind or cold temperatures. The past two days have been beautiful in Peoria and I was able to take Lydia for the first couple walks of the spring. We even enjoyed the swings at the park and watched the fish in the pond in the park! Lydia LOVED the swing. She giggled out loud every time she came back to me. I sang a new letter and sound of the alphabet each time she would swing back in my direction. She thinks the /b/, /d/, and /ck/ sounds are hilarious and will always laugh... She is rather indifferent to the short vowel sounds when I sing them, although she likes /i/. I think it all depends on my expression when I say the sound and she thinks the shape of my lips is funny when I say certain sounds of the letters of the alphabet. I know we will spend lots of time at the park this summer and lots of time walking on the paths!
