32 Weeks

Lydia continues to grow by leaps and bounds. This past week we went to the doctor because Lydia had a cold I wanted them to check out. She weighed 20 pounds. The doctor's visit was uneventful as they listened to her lungs and checked her oxygen levels. Both were fine and they concluded it was just a cold. I was glad it wasn't anything more. I have come to live by the mantra that I better be safe than sorry. When she was coughing, I didn't want it to become pneumonia or anything else.

We love weekends with Lydia. They always go by so fast and I can hardly wait until spring and summer break. This weekend, we went to a Mid-Illini Credit Union Appreciation Party. The credit union is a prospective client of Brett's so we drove to Bloomington. Miller Park in Bloomington was fabulous! I envision Lydia and I taking at least one trip there this summer to check out the zoo, playgrounds, and trails that that park has. We also won $25.00! This came in handy when we went to the Eastland Mall afterward and I bought three more summer outfits and a new toy for Lydia.
In growth, development, and milestone news of Lydia, we have started giving her a sippy cup instead of a bottle. She has embraced this new method of eating. I tried a few different sippy cups out to no avail. The AVENT sippy cups' nozzles were too skinny and Lydia had a difficult time figuring them out. I ended up using a Munchkin Sippy Cup and some NUBY cups from Target. I bought one or two of three different styles. I will go and buy more NUBYs now that I know they work for her.

I spent much of this morning making more baby food for Lydia. I made batches of sweet potatoes, peas, and acorn squash. She will also have some avocado and fresh bananas this week. i typically get the Organic Earth's Best baby food for her when we are out and about, but this last week I opened two jars of their Chicken Apple Compote and it was not right. I plan on sending them a letter because the food was obviously spoiled or mispackaged. I can't describe the texture other than it looked like it had dried out and was gritty. I have been really happy with most of their other jarred foods and it is the only other alternative to Gerber Organic foods or homemade baby food.

I did find more MUM MUM snacks for Lydia. They have vegetable flavored snacks at Wal-Mart. I think I have four boxes in the pantry for her, all of which are various flavors. I get a little excited when I can introduce new things to her. I also bought some other snacks that I will give her slowly as she continues to learn to chew. I just wish there were more options for organic snacking for her... If any of my mommy friends have found good snacks, please let me know!

Wow, can't believe she's on a sippy cup already! Not sure Landon would know what to do with one, lol! Maybe I'll introduce it in a month or so. Lydia is getting so big...crazy that our kiddos are 7 months already...time flies when you're having fun!

We actually completely stopped the bottle on Monday, and Johannah is solely on sippy cups now! I agree with you, we love the Nuby brand. She actually likes the sports sipper Nuby ones because the nipple is kind of shaped like the nipple from a bottle. So far it's going well! I can't believe she's 32 wks!..her 1st bday is getting closer and closer!
