27 Weeks Old
Lydia had a busy weekend. On Friday Night, we enjoyed an evening at The Children's Hospital of Illinois' benefit that included dueling pianos. Lydia was great during the evening and was decked out in one of her party dresses. I could tell that she was over stimulated by the crowd and music because she was very serious all night. She is observant and analytical and was taking in all the stimuli that surronded her. Gary and Denise (Oma and Opa) were a great help in taking care of Lydia so Brett and I could enjoy the event as well as help emcee a portion of it. I am so thankful for their support!
On Sunday, Lydia joined us at the Peoria Jaycee SuperFest Superbowl Party. We hosted the event and it was a big success! Lydia cheered on the Colts, but we left at Half Time to make sure we didn't get her too off her schedule. Daddy picked up the party and was home by ten pm.
On a sidenote, I didn't blog about how to make Melon or Mango Baby Puree, but Lydia has also had that. It is simple because all you have to do is cut open a mango or melon, take the seeds out, and puree it! Melon can't be frozen in the pureed form very well, so I would not suggest that. It is able to be combined with bananas to form a tasty puree.
Lydia has also started on meat! I bought Earth's Best Organic Baby Food for this because I am not brave enough to make my own meat purees. She has tried turkey vegetable medely and has liked it thus far (but what food doesn't she like?). The organic food is a little more pricey, but I feel worth it. I also bought her organic puffs to try when she is ready. I put a few on her tray at a time, but she hasn't worked out the whole "putting these in my mouth is what I am supposed to do instead of throwing them on the floor and laughing and mommy" thing.
We did buy Lyds a few new toys for Valentine's Day. "Daddy" bought her an activity table (I think I saw Nina had it for her little one) and I found it on sale at Wal-Mart. I bought her a wiggle pig, pig book, and pig washcloth (see a theme here?). They were all super cute. I have a few more books that I will give her to open as well. I love that we will celebrate Valentine's Day with a theme of love for our family rather than just an adult couples only holiday. I bought Lydia a card to give Brett and was just about in tears in the aisle as I read all the cards for babies to give their daddies. So cute!
