8 Days Old

August 12, 2009

Lydia had an eventful day today! We started to the day with a breakfast on the deck. We have been trying to get Lydia outdoors for little parts of the day to expose her to the sun (not directly) to help with her Bilirubin levels. It helps! While we ate breakfast, the doorbell rang and we were surprised with a beautiful flower arrangement from Terry Best and the Peoria Chamber Ambassadors. I love all the fresh flowers that are filling our home! It is so fresh and beautiful!

After a late breakfast, we went for her Bilirubin check at the pediatrician and her levels dropped significantly. She has also been taking a Vitamin D supplement. She has gained one ounce since Monday and now officially weighs 7 lbs and 4 ounces! After her appointment, we made a quick pit stop at home so Lydia could eat and then we went to Wilder Waite. Lydia met some of mommy's co-workers as I picked up some items from my classroom. Then, Lydia made her first trip to Wal-Mart. I wanted to go to Target, but our time was limited. I had to get some Thank You cards to write out thank yous to all the wonderful friends that have dropped off meals, sent flowers, or given Lydia gifts since her arrival. We also needed to pick up some newborn diapers because the size 1 diapers that we have are still too big.

After our Wal-Mart pit stop, we stopped by the Taste of Peoria. Daddy was a judge this year due to his work with AdCo and Pace. Lydia and I made it home in time for her to eat and take a nap. I used her nap time to finally pick up our bedroom, make the bed, and gather laundry to do.

By the end of my 'chores' Laura Kogler came with some delicious dinner. She made us Mostaccoli and Garlic Bread! It was tasty! We are going to miss her when she moves with her family to Kansas City this weekend. Our neighbors, Elaine and Owen stopped by after Laura left. Elaine has been a great resource for "mommy advice." I am sure I will solicit more advice from her in the near future. Elaine and Owen Wicker

Mandy! I was at Target today and I was hoping I would run into you and Lydia! I frequent Target quite a bit, so maybe I'll see you soon!

Okay so I know this will sound silly as Lydia is only 8 days old but I definitely see brett in her face...
