17 Weeks

Sunday marks another week gone by and the beginning of another week. In just a few short weeks, we will find out if our little pea is going to be a boy or a girl. 17 weeks has been marked by Sciatica... Basically, the baby has been growing and pressure is being put on my sciatic nerve. This causes severe and intense pain in my lower back. It is for a brief moment at a time- just like a pinched nerve, but it is not very fun. Brett went and got extra strength Tylenol for me to take tonight and it has helped a little bit- but a heating pad and rest on my side seem to do the best. I have also started doing prenatal yoga. The yoga stretches my back and has made me more relaxed before bed time. I am hoping doing the yoga and getting more rest will make the sciatica go away.

Last night we went to the Central Illinois Home Show, Sully's, and the Bradley game with the Grant's and Rupe's. The game went into 2 overtimes! Whereas it was a lot of fun, my back was killing me to a point I had a hard time going down the stairs when we first got to the arena. Brett and Patrick ended up going out afterwards, but I went home to rest my back. I think I am going to stop wearing high heels until the pain goes away. We did get some great ideas at the home show. Our spring home improvement project will be adding lighting to the backyard. The front yard was done last year and looks amazing at night- but the backyard is very dark at night. We found a picture in which lighting was placed until the rail of the deck and we think it would look great with our setup.

Of course, we also have the baby's nursery to do. We have found a black desk that we have to go buy to put in the guest room and get rid of the giant oak set that is currently in the nursery. The crib set should be here this week and I can't wait to start putting the room together. The bedding came in and will be perfect for what I was thinking. I am on the lookout for paper lanterns like the ones in the picture. I am also going to order a quote to put above the bed, and a cream colored shaggy carpet for the floor. Once I get everything togethe
r, I need to start looking for window treatments too. I want to go to IKEA sometime this spring to look at lighting for the baby's room. They have so many creative and unique options there and I wanted to get something unique.

Now that you say your back pain was due to your sciatic nerve...I had the exact same thing the past 2weeks...thats how long mine lasted. It is horrible pain and nothing made mine feel better. I got an hour massage and she worked on it the entire time. 2 days later it felt all better. So I would recommend getting a massage! :) It was also hard for me to get out of bed, and sometimes I could barely walk...one day I struggled so much and ended up just falling over. No one understands how horrible the pain is...but I completely understand your pain Girlie! :)
Secondly, we are SOOO much alike, especially when it comes to decorating. I was also planning to put those paper lanterns in the nursery, as I stumbled upon them when searching the web the other night. I wrote down where to order them, so I can share that with you! How hilarious...2 great minds think alike...guess that's why we're such good friends!!!
