Indiana Vacation Day #3

I've been wanting to take Lydia to the Shedd Aquarium for the past year. Knowing that she would love the sea-life, it was the perfect option to fit into the last day of our trip. Only 45 minutes from Michigan City, we easily made the drive on the Chicago Sky Way to the Windy City.

Having listened to "Little Liza Jane" on CD over 100 times, Lydia knew the Little Liza went to Chicago. When we pointed on the skyline, she grew excited and when we parked the car, she could hardly contain herself. She was overcome with excitement.

We parked easily at Soldier Field and walked to the Shedd. We were amazed at the number of people that were in line. The line was advertised as a 90 minute wait, but we were in and ready to view the sea life within 30 minutes. The week we came was free week for Illinois residents. This didn't amount to much. Free admission was entrance to the main exhibits, but we opted for the additional costs of the oceanarium show, Great Reef exhibits, polar place exhibits, and more.. Lydia LOVED the dolphins and whales. She was captivated by the show. For those of you that have witnessed Lydia in action, she is a busy body. She sat still and silent for 40 minutes during the show. She asked relevant questions, clapped appropriately, and demonstrated immense enthusiasm for the creatures. She worked through a sleepy spell to see every exhibit at Shedd and enjoy a lunch with the dolphins in the deep ocean. She laughed through the spiny crab exhibit and questioned the sizes of the little fish vs. the larger fish. It was a great afternoon to round out a wonderful weekend and wonderful Father's Day for Brett.
