Rain, Rain Go Away!

How much can 1 family jam-pack into one gloomy, rainy Saturday? If you are an Ellis, it is a lot! We woke up this morning to rainy, gloomy skies and cold temperatures. The combination did not make for ideal conditions for Easter Egg Hunts, but we forged ahead with our plans despite the weather. Our first stop included breakfast at Midstate College and a visit with the Easter bunny. Lydia enjoyed the breakfast, Easter Basket, and balloons, but is still terrified of the Easter Bunny. We still took a quick family picture with the bunny to commemorate the experience and to use as blackmail during her teen years.

We had planned to go to the zoo afterward, but ended up going to Eggs on the Prairie at Grand Prairie Mall. They had games, music, eggs, and balloons for all kids in two of their empty store fronts. This was a good compromise and kept Lydia out of the chilly wet weather.

After our EGGciting morning, we returned home for lunch and a wonderful 3 hour long nap! Way to go Lydia! Brett and I took advantage of her napping to relax ourselves. After naptime, we geared up for some time reading books at Border's and a delicious dinner at the Pizza Peel in Lacon, Illinois. The pizza we had for dinner was amongst some of the best pizza I had in a long time. Lydia enjoyed her personal pizza with marinara dipping sauce and we had a fresh "Everything but the Kitchen Sink" supreme pizza with delectable vegetables and meats. Lydia was even able to help "toss the pizza dough" and touch the dough at the kitchen window. If you haven't had Lacon's Pizza Peel pizza, you have to take the road trip there and try it out. It was awesome. I am already excited to eat the leftovers!

Finally, before heading home, we stopped by Brad and Mary's for a quick visit before they began poker night. It has been a great beginning to spring break. I know the remainder of the week will be equally as fun and I am counting down the days to summer break! I just love my time with my girl (and my hubby).

Sounds like a fun day! Maybe we can all go to the Lacon pizza peel one evening!
