Last Year at this Time...

First of all, 1 year ago, it was much cooler! I have to say I struck the pregnancy lotto with the summer of 2009. I don't think it was ever much above 80 degrees as evidenced by the fact I was wearing jeans in July last year. Secondly, although I love this non-maternity shirt that I wore as a pregnant lady, I can't bring myself to wear it again now that I have worn it 9 months pregnant: thus it sits in a box marked for future pregnancies (don't get ahead of yourselves with that comment).

Reminiscing to one year ago, albeit with a large belly, I can distinctly remember the excitement and anticipation regarding the arrival of Lydia. Her being here has added so much joy and love in our lives that has deeply outweighed any expectation we had as parents prior to her arrival. The sleepless nights were welcomed and enjoyed. Looking back even to the first 8 weeks, I miss the cradling of her in my arms at 4 a.m (even though I desperately love getting a full-night's sleep now). If this is the way parenthood is intended, with such strong emotional highs, admiration, and infatuation with your child, then I anticipate and long for continued moments, days, and memories to make with Lydia. She has become a great source of pride and love for both Brett and I. We can't even imagine our lives one-year ago without her in it.
