We had another sonogram and OB appointment today. At 18 weeks and 2 days, I was excited to see the growth of the baby and see if we could find out the sex. It was also an appointment to look at the location of my placenta to see if we have had any more progress. The doctor is concerned that if the placenta does not 'rise' that it can cause problems during labor. It is a good thing that there is no bleeding anymore, but he has limited all my activity and lifting to 10 pounds... I left work shortly before 11am to make it to the doctor's office and Brett met me there. The development of the baby over 2 weeks was amazing. The heart was beating well, its spine is formed, and the doctor commented on how nice and round the baby's head was- "It has a nice cerebellum right there," he said.
The big question was "What is the sex." I knew ahead of time that it still may be too early to tell. In someways it still is to early... The doctor looked at the anatomy. The baby's legs were together and he looked. He didn't see any 'testicles' so he gave us a 60/40 chance that it is a girl, but we have to wait a couple more weeks to confirm that for sure. Seeing as how I think my doctor is rather conservative with his judgements, I feel like it is more 70/30... He just wants to be safe. Either way- we can't wait to welcome little Lydia or Carter- depending on our next appointment. I did call my mom, Denise, Angie, Shelly, and Brittany to share the tentative news! It is so fun to spread such a joyous announcement!
I had the rest of the afternoon off of work. After a short nap, I starred at the crib box and broke down. I had to put it together... It is officially together- two and a half hours later! It looks great! Soon there will be a little baby in there! I can't hardly wait!

YAY!!!!!! I am SO excited for you guys!!! Thanks for calling to let me know, and you better call when it's "confirmed" in 3 weeks! It's so great to go through this with such a great friend! I'm crackng up though that you put that crib together all by yourself...I wouldn't have a clue what to do (i'm not very handy with stuff like that though!) Glad things are going well and yes, Baby E will be here soon enough!
This is all so exciting! I am so happy for you and I can't wait to buy something for the new Baby Ellis. Just be sure to not over do it. We want you and the baby to be healthy!
